The new Vertus is a versatile Metered Dose Inhaler ( MDI) Shake and Fire system which automatically delivers consistent and controllable MDI acutations to a number of devices including DUSA, ACI, NGI, W7i, WFPDi and WaSC ( Waste Shot Collection) .

Vertus automates and controls the “ shake and fire” of single MDIs; an inhaler with canister is mounted in the clamp or saddle ( optional) where it is agitated and actuated in a pre-programmed manner, defined by the user as a method or configuration file. The Vertus operations can be programmed by the user locally or from an external computer. Data transfer, effected by memory stick or by electronic connection to and from the external computer, is via encrypted files which can be validated. The inhaler mounting is fixed and the measurement devices - DUSA, ACI, and NGI - or the WaSC for wasting are moved forward to the inhaler and sealed to the mouthpiece adaptor after shaking, prior to firing. In the more advanced versions additional operations, flow control/ adjustment and leak testing are undertaken according to a programmable schedule. Fully integrated systems for multiple inhalers shake and fire, automated dose weight and collection are available as an extension of the basic systems) . Finally the sequence is completed in a carefully controlled firing of the MDI with user-defined parameters of force, angles, time and distance.
The Vertus is an auto-positioning system and will correctly position the impactor or WaSC and align the MDI up or down during the operating cycle.
